We love Madre Maiz! The food is super tasty and the people are very friendly. Both indoor and outdoor seating is really cute.

Found this spot yesterday and I loved it so much. Reminds me of MEXICO CITY, small space with amazing blue corn tortillas and mezcal! I love that it was operated by a team of amazing woman and is very authentic. Really delicious. WILL ABSOLUTELY BE BACK. Dont sleep on Madre Maiz, probably best Mexican food in Pasadena. LOVE LOVE LOVE THE TORTILLAS

Que wow! We have been looking for some bomb Tacos in the area and came across Madre Maiz whole driving by and looked them up on Yelp. The reviews were good and the food looked delicious so we decided to come by for lunch ttoday after a hike. The restaurant is across from Kaiser and El Torito with their own parking lot so it's easy to find. The signage is bold and everything looks clean and brand new, not sure how long they've been here but they really know what they're doing! They sell fresh made tortillas in bags next to the register and have both inside and outside patio seating. Today my family shared Tacos Dorados de Papa (comes with 4), 2 Birria Tacos, and cup of Birria consumme, and a Carne Asada Torta. Everything was flavorful and amazing, and I especially enjoyed the potato Tacos, they were topped with Pickled onion and crema. It was chef's kiss! My daughter LOVED the birria and even ordered some fries on the side to dip and she couldn't stop eating it! My husband also adored his torta and we cannot wait to come back and try some other dishes.

Cool new little taco spot in Pasadena. The service was great, I believe it was the owner or manager's son was taking the orders. He gave us a recommendation of his favorites. Tried the Tacos Dorados, Birria Tacos, Birria Soup, order of regular fries and a Carne Asada Torta. The Torta, tacos dorados and the birria tacos were amazing. The green salsa is very flavorful and not spicy, same with the mild red sauce. The birria soup was very salty and a smaller than usual cup size. The fries were tasty and fresh, they give you a giant portion to share for $5. Might try their blue corn tortilla tacos next time or the asada fries, they only knock I want to add was that the inside is smaller and very loud. The outside was very nice too but no heaters or wall to help from the elements. Also the portion size of birria to price was a little off in my opinion. Love the branding and the cleanliness of the place.

Had the burrito bowl ,great when your wanting something fresh and clean ,had it with the carnitas very good and favorable. Enjoyed the mild green salsa good flavor . My friend had the blue corn tortilla with toasted Melted cheese with protein. It wasn't really for me but he said it was good. I order the corn in the cup Esquite one of my favorite side dish,this had something of one flavor powerful and it wasn't my favorite I give it a 7/10 Cute place inside /outside seating ,friendly staff . Enjoyed the Jamaica not to sweet just right flavor

Cheese tacos (quesadillas) *as the kid calls them* & Tacos Their cheese quesadillas are AMAZING! Great portion of cheese and is toasted just RIGHT! I got the Pollo Asado, Carne Asada, Maiz Filet Mignon and the Maiz Grilled Shrimp tacos all were delectable, succulent, saucy, juicyyy and just overall amazing!

Found a small taco joint and turns out it's one of the best handmade and affordable taco spots around Pasadena with good meat choices. Tortillas and freshly made, choice of meat includes arrachera, carne asada, birria, shrimp, chicken with some veggie options too. You can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Service is fast and the workers including the cashier, chef, and servers are super nice. Lots of tables inside and outside. My recommendation is to ask for some extra salsa, cause it's the perfect amount of spice with any of your order.
